I would like to welcome everyone back from summer vacations. Our meeting on August 15th was very well attended. We treated the attendees to a bagel brunch, to which we also invited the teachers, along with Cantor Laurie Bonn, during their break from their meeting. I want to thank Florence Lang who, along with me, purchased and prepared some of the food for the brunch. After the brunch, a Brainstorming Session took place and many wonderful suggestions were offered for fundraising and programs. You will be hearing more about these when times and dates are set. Cantor Bonn also shared some great ideas with us that I know everyone is excited about.
Cantor Laurie was made an honorary member of Sisterhood. She not only shared some great fundraising ideas and program possibilities with us, but she told us of some of the special activities she is planning for the religious school students. Some of the arts and crafts projects she is planning for the children will require some recyclable items such as cardboard paper towel and toilet rolls and egg cartons. Just wait until you see what she plans to do with them. Bring these items to Temple and mark them for xthe Religious School.
Sisterhood honored Beverly Weinstock by making her a lifetime Sisterhood member in honor of her many years of hard work and dedication. She served as our Treasurer and in other capacities, and always made sure there were plenty of supplies in the kitchen for Onegs, etc. We wanted her to know how much she is appreciated. Congratulations, Beverly.
I would like to welcome two first-time members to Sisterhood: Stacy Leppala and Michele Faulconer. We hope you will enjoy being a part of our wonderful group of Sisterhood ladies. We also have a new Membership Chair-Marcelle Schvimmer has volunteered to take on this very important job and we thank her for doing so. She has already made up some lovely Welcome Bags for our brand new members.
The High Holy Days are fast approaching and I want to thank Julie Rochlin and Leah Ehrlich for being in charge of the Rosh Hashanah Eve Oneg, and to Florence Lang for chairing the Yom Kippur Break-the-Fast. Please sign up to bring something for these two occasions. We thank everyone for your participation.
Sisterhood will once again be participating in Macy’s ‘Shop of a Cause’ on October 16th. Tickets are only $5.00 and can be used on that day at any Macy’s in the country. The tickets entitle you to great discounts all day, plus a chance to win $500. There are door prizes given away throughout the day. Best of all, Sisterhood will be able to keep the full $5 to use for our projects. Florence and I have tickets, so we ask that everyone try to sell some as well as buying your own.
Please reserve these dates:

WRJ-SE District 33rd Biennial Convention: Thurs., Oct. 28th - Sun., Oct. 31, 2010, Orlando. I now have registration forms. We encourage all of our members to try to attend at least part of the Biennial since it’s so close. Betsy Brody would like to share a room with one of us. If you plan to go for the entire Biennial, please see me for Betsy’s contact information before her return to Florida.
It has been my pleasure to serve as your Acting President for the first quarter of our Sisterhood year. Betsy will serve for the 2nd quarter, then Julie and Rochelle. I am sure each of us will strive to do the best of our
ability to make our 30th Anniversary Sisterhood year the most exciting and successful year we have ever had. Let us all work together to make this happen. I again encourage all of our Temple ladies to become a part of our wonderful organization. Our goal is 100% membership.
Arnold joins me in wishing you and your family a healthy, happy, and peaceful New Year 5771.
The point schedule will be augmented with additional donor opportunities in the upcoming year:
Please participate... the results will make sisterhood stronger!
